Projects - Past and Present
7 Bridges Project
The Loughborough Junction
Action Group (LJAG) is thrilled to have launched the 7 Bridges – an
arts-led regeneration project. The project’s objective is to improve the
appearance and lighting of the 7 bridges which define the Loughborough Junction
area. The ultimate aim of the project is the regeneration of Loughborough
Junction. A pilot project will begin in spring 2011 when the small
bridge across Cambria Road will become the focus of “The Cambrian
explosion” involving local schools, artists and arts organisations.
LJAG has recently been awarded a grant of £4,800 from the
Capital Community Foundation which has allowed us to employ a part-time project
officer for three months. For project updates please check the www.7-bridges.org website or click on the 7 Bridges Website link at the top of this webpage.

Marie Lenclos' animation at St Saviour's School
Local film maker, Marie Lenclos has been working with year 7 students at St Saviour's School on an animation project inspired by the Cambria Bridge and LJAG's 7 Bridges project. The resulting films are truly inspiring with lots of ideas about how LJAG should improve the bridge, which is a pedestrian route used by hundreds of people each day and one of the main routes to through to Ruskin Park. The film was funded by the Lambeth Networks Forum. Look out too for LJAG's plans to improve the bridge - watch this space for more news in the autumn.

Annual Exhibitions
There Is a proposal to stage an annual exhibition of work by local artists.
The series was kicked off by the WE ARE LOUGHBOROUGH JUNCTION project, run by Conor Masterson, Matty Matterson and Paul Adlam, in which photos of local people taken by Conor over 3 days last summer were displayed in large and very large format in the local streets over a week in February. http://www.vimeo.com/17799645 | Trees - Street PlantingLoughborough Junction already has some trees, but there is plenty of space for more trees to help make the area greener. Coldharbour Lane is a key area that would benefit from new planting. Quality of our surroundingsThe area around Loughborough Junction suffers from general rubbish and tidiness issues – the black wheely bins, orange recycling bags and commercial bins that litter our pavements and look unsightly at best. |
