Welcome to the Loughborough Junction Action Group website. This website has been established as an online message board and community hub for the promotion and regeneration of the Loughborough Junction area.

Loughborough Junction is in the Borough of Lambeth, South London (Map), between Brixton, Camberwell and Herne Hill. It takes its name from a rail station. The area has been neglected, partly as a result of unrealised planning decisions, partly because it is on the very edge of Lambeth and halfway between the busier centres of Brixton and Camberwell. Nevertheless it contains a vibrant community who have formed an action group to attempt to bring about the improvement and regeneration of the area.

LJAG Committee Member - Tom Chigbo
Named as one of Britain's 50 New Radicals

Tom Chigbo is a Community Organiser in the borough of Lambeth for South London Citizens (part of Citizens UK), working with 15 faith, education and civic institutions.

Citizens UK started as London Citizens in 1996, and came to prominence during the 2010 general election when all three party leaders addressed a large meeting of its members in what it billed as the 'fourth debate'.

Tom grew up in north London before studying geography at the University of Cambridge. On graduation he received the St John's College Larmor Award, was recognised by Rare Rising Stars as the UK's number one black student and named in the Power List of Britain's 100 most influential black people.

Tom was also elected president of Cambridge University Students' Union, a full-time role representing 20,000 students and leading campaigns. Before becoming a professional organiser in 2011, Tom had a year's experience with Citizens UK, working with TELCO, North London Citizens and the Money Mentors financial literacy campaign. He is currently studying for an MA in Community Organising at Queen Mary, University of London.

LOUGHBOROUGH JUNCTION ACTION GROUP ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

The Loughborough Junction Action Group is a dynamic and active community action group with an ambitious programme for the future in and around the Loughborough Junction area between Brixton and Camberwell. LJAG is looking to employ a freelance part-time administrative officer to help with the smooth running of the committee and sub-committees. The hours are flexible but will require some evening work.

LJAG Monthly Meet-up
